Activities Riding/Sitting on the Data Date

What it is:
These are activities that appear to start exactly on the data date—usually because logic is weak or missing. They look ready to launch the moment you update the schedule.

Why it’s a Problem:
This gives the illusion of progress and creates unrealistic expectations. When many activities sit on the data date, updates look artificially clean, and any real delay can ripple into downstream work.

Best Practice:
Avoid nudging new activities to start on the data date just to “keep things neat.” Strengthen logic ties so work naturally flows forward. The schedule should reflect operational reality, not just a tidy update.
