Planned Impact (Future Acceleration)
Planned impacts represent intentional changes made to the remaining planned work in a project that impacts the end date. These adjustments can either accelerate the schedule to finish earlier or extend it to account for additional time needed for work.
- Accelerating the Schedule: To recover from delays, project teams may shorten activity durations, adjust logic ties, or resequence tasks. These changes attempt to bring the project back on schedule and are reflected as positive acceleration.
- Extending the Schedule: Additionally, teams can introduce extended change orders or time extensions can push the end date out. These changes result in negative acceleration, indicating an extension to the project timeline.
