Replacing a Schedule (Essentials)

Replacing a schedule in SmartPM involves updating a new schedule file to overwrite an existing schedule file. This is typically done when the project schedule has been entirely revised or replaced with a new version.

When to Replace a Schedule:

  • Complete Schedule Overhaul: When the entire project schedule has been revised or replaced with a new version.
  • New Schedule Versions: When a new schedule file is available, and you need to update the project with the latest information.

Replacing an outdated schedule ensures the project is using the most current schedule data and allows for the integration of significant changes that might not be captured through rebaselining alone.

To replace a schedule in SmartPM:

  1. Click the ellipses next to the project to open the project menu.
  2. Navigate to the Manage Schedules button from the project menu.
  3. Upload the new schedule file (e.g., XER or MPP).
  4. SmartPM will provide an Error message informing you that there are two schedules with the same data date in the project.
  5. Delete the old version of the schedule by clicking the trash can icon next to the schedule.
  6. Click Save.

SmartPM will process the new schedule, and you'll receive an email notification upon completion.
