Revert Rule in Scenario Conditions
The Revert condition lets you backdate any planned change to an earlier schedule and create an analysis with it incorporated sooner. Think of it as if you “had a crystal ball” in previous updates and could make the baseline with everything that you know today..
Use Revert when you want to evaluate:
- The critical impact of a newly added delay if you could have planned for it ahead of time.
- A destatused as-built
To Create a Revert Condition:
- Click the Project name from the Project List.
- Click Modeling from the top menu bar.
- Click conditions from the left side menu.
- Click + Condition from the top right of the screen and click Revert.
- Step: Select Schedule
- Choose the schedule containing the changes you wish to revert
- Click Next
- You will see a list of changes made in that schedule.
- Use Filter (e.g. “Critical Changes”) or Search to limit which changes appear
- To revert an individual change: click the dropdown in the Data Date column and pick the schedule version to revert to
- To revert all changes at once: use the “Select a Bulk Change Value” dropdown and click Change All
- Click Next
- Enter a name for your Revert rule
- Click Create, then Close
- You’ll see that your new Revert rule is now listed among conditions
To Create and apply a Model with the Revert Rule:
- Go to the Project Workspace by clicking the project from the Project List.
- Click Modeling from the top menu bar.
- Click + Model from the top right of the screen.
- Go to Advanced Model
- Enter the model name & description. Then click Next
- Select Schedules: click “Select All” (or specific ones), then click Next
- Note: When planning to apply a Revert rule, you must select both the two schedules the change(s) you are reverting was made between and the schedule you are reverting it to.
- Select your new Revert rule, then click Save / Close
SmartPM will run the analysis; you’ll receive an email when complete.
To View and Compare Results:

On the Project Dashboard: in the Model box, choose your Revert scenario to view charts/metrics for that model
- Use the Gantt Chart icon to see which activities remain on the critical path or were added
- Toggle between the “Originals” and your Revert scenario to see differences in end dates, paths, etc.
