Should Start/Finish Report

The Should Start/Finish report displays all activities that should have started or finished in a given period per the schedule at the beginning of the period. It then compares them against actual performance.

To access the Should Have Started/Should Have Finished report:

  1. Navigate to your project from the Project List.
  2. Click Reporting from the top navigation bar.
  3. Click the ‘play’ icon next to the Should Start/Finish report.
  4. Select the end of period schedule
  5. The report will automatically be generated

At the top, three donut charts will provide a visual summary:

  • Total Activities: The total number of activities that should have progressed.
  • Should Have Started: Out of the total activities, this shows the activities that were planned to start in the window. Then it will slice them between Started on Time, Started Late, and Did Not Start.
  • Should Have Finished: Out of the total activities, this shows the activities that were planned to finish in the window. Then it will slice them between Finished on Time, Finished Late, and Did Not Finish.

Below the charts, activity-level comparisons are shown:

  • Start Date Variance / Finish Date Variance: how current dates diverge from planned
  • Progress: % complete at beginning of window vs % complete at end of window
  • Total Float: float at beginning of window vs float at end of window

At the bottom of the report you can click print to generate a PDF version of the report. You can also click export to download as an excel file that you can filter through. Utilize the Grouping feature to organize the report by WBS or Activity Code
