View Trends Introduction

The View Trends section in the Analysis Tab opens a dynamic report showing how key project metrics evolve over time. It is a visual way to monitor progress, risks, and schedule health across schedule updates.

To see project trends:

  1. Click the project name from the Project List.
  2. From here, click on the Analysis tab,
  3. Then, click Trends from the left hand menu.

Why These Trends Matter:

  • Project Orientation: Trends help any user quickly get acclimated to a project they may be unfamiliar with
  • Visibility over time: Trends help you see directionality, whether a metric is improving, worsening, or staying stable.
  • Early warning: Shifts in trends often reveal emerging risks (increasing delay, rising missing logic) before they become serious issues.
  • Performance accountability: Tracking metrics like hit rate or SPI over time links schedule quality to execution practices.
  • Context for decisions: Trends support more informed decisions by showing how past actions impacted project health.

Best Practices:

  • Isolate Metrics: To isolate specific metrics on the chart, click on the individual metrics from the bottom of the chart you should like to focus on.
  • Regular Monitoring: Consistently review the chart to identify trends and potential scheduling & compression issues early.
  • Analyze Averages: Pay attention to the average trend lines to assess overall schedule performance and anticipate future challenges.
  • Adjust Plans Accordingly: Use insights from the chart to make informed decisions about resource allocation and timeline adjustments.
