In this video, you will learn how to track activities and milestones in your SmartPM project. You will learn how to set up “track to” milestone and activity scenarios and how the analysis is conducted.
Track to a Milestone When Creating a Project
The easiest way to track milestones is when you create a project because you can track to multiple milestones and activities all at once. In step three of adding a new project, the schedule file is imported and in step four, you will be able to select milestones and activities you want to track to. You can filter for incomplete milestones. Once you select your milestones, click Close.
Add a Milestone to Track To in an Existing Project
If you forgot to select a milestone when setting up a project or you have a new activity you want to track to, you can track specific milestones and activities
- From the main Dashboard Click on the project name.
- Click on the blue “+ Track Activity” button in the upper right
- Use the search window to find the activities you want to track
- Select the radio button to the left of the activities you want to track
- Click Save
How the analysis is conducted for a track to milestone:
When you create “track to” activity scenarios, SmartPM is not changing the original data. SmartPM will create a new schedule to track the logic and activities that drive the milestones and will eliminate any activities that are not associated with the milestone. The scenario will show the critical path of the milestone as if were it’s own schedule. SmartPM is tracking a schedule within a schedule.
